Long live creativity!

Centre of Horsens: walking street
This weekend I was lucky to visit a small town in Denmark - Horsens. As a damn proud mom, I inform that my 14-years old daughter was invited to participate in Danish Championship in Drawing which took place in the Art museum of Horsens. It was the first time we went there, and it was more than a pleasant surprise. This provincial danish town is a great example of harmonization of old architecture and modern art. See for yourself.

DIY plant hanger

I was stunned how easy it is to make a plant hanger. It took me 10 minutes if not less. You need some t-shirt yarn or cord (I used both of them), a key ring (but that it optional).

I made 8 strings of 1,5 meters long. You can adjust this according to the size of your pot.
Practically all you need

Start with connecting the key ring with all the strings in a knot.
Then knot all the strings

And in the end - connect all the strings in one big knot
And voila!

and another one!

Warmth and colors in Barcelona

Last year I had a chance to spend a few lovely days in Barcelona. Besides the amazing architecture, friendly people, plants all over the city, I was stunned by choices and colors of La Boqueria market.

Comfort and coziness are the key! Not to mention the plants!

I could live here!

Growing avocado plant

Back to spring planting craze! This time with an  attempt to grow avocado tree from the seed. You can learn how to here. There are very step-by-step tips on how to grow an avocado plant. But if you want to use your own organic avocado fruits for the salad - wait for minimum 7 years. Enjoy!

Decorating with house plants

I tend to have too many plants in my home and I never get enough of them. I think plants give so much warmth and joy, especially when you grow them yourself and get to see every step in the process. There are many ways to have plants and flowers at home and fortunately today we have access to many different varieties of exotic plants as well as to the more of simple kind. You can use your imagination as to how display and arrange the plants and flowers, but here are some of my tips.

Add colors to your home by adding fresh flowers and plants

Lovely red clove flowers in beautiful ceramic vases. And the clove flowers last forever!

You can use plants as a decor on your bookshelf using colored glass vase
it doesn't have to be a funky vase

use a colorful vintage can instead of a vase
or a transparent glass vase

Grow your own little garden

In the springtime collect branches and see how the leaves will pop out or grow your own plants. To the right: split-leaf  philodendron - one of the most grateful plants, as long as you remember to water them from time to time

If you are not exactly a green-handed person, then go for succulents and cacti - easy to care for and there are a great variety of them!
You can keep them miniature
or let them grow into bushes by gradually changing the size of pots to give more space for roots.

Hang your plants. See the tutorial

DIY: Polish pajaki chandelier

The other day on Pinterest I was inspired to make a polish pajaki chandelier, which is a lovely chandelier with lots of bright colors and made from paper. So my daughter and I decided to start this project and we are pretty damn satisfied with the result.

For pajaki you need
  • paper napkins (in many colors)
  • straws
  • string
  • paper stars or beads or pompoms (we used beads and pompoms instead, but you can always cut paper flowers and stars from solid papers)
  • wire (for the chandelier body)
  • ribbons
  • glue

Here is pretty much what we used.

First we started with the paper flowers following this peony tutorial, but instead of coffee filters we used ordinary paper napkins and also we doubled the amount of papers for the flowers, so that they become very fluffy.

Using the wire, ribbon and glue we have gathered the "body" of the chandelier, which is the circle, that holds the chandelier.
After lots of fun with beads, pompoms, small pieces of straws and flowers, we got the lovely colorful pajaki.
